The suspension components that most often need attention are the shocks and struts. On most vehicles, the shocks will need to be replaced at about the 50,000-mile mark. If you notice that one of your shocks is leaking or performing poorly, you should get replacement shocks. Both shocks on an axle should be replaced at the same time.
When you take your car in for regular service, the suspension should be checked for any leaks or problems. If you notice that your car is bouncing more than usual over a bump, you should have the suspension checked.
